Lily: Shep what do you know about the book
of Joshua?
Shep: Well,
- It's the first book after the Torah
or Pentateuch (the first five books of the Bible).
- It tells how Joshua led the Children
of Israel into Canaan.
Lily: Who was the author?
Shep: The author was probably not Joshua,
but an eye witness to
the events.
Lily: When did this take place?
Shep: The events in Joshua took place
around 1405 and 1390 BC.
Lily, do you enjoy reading the Bible?
Lily: I love reading the Bible. To help me
better understand
what I am reading, I like to ask, "What am I learning about
God from this book?" What I learned from the book of
Joshua is that God makes His people victorious when they
obey Him.
Shep: Since next month has National Bible
week, let's ask all our
readers on Kids Korner to tell us in You
Tell the Story,
why they love reading the Bible.
Lily: That's a good idea! They can also tell
us their favorite
Bible story or verse.
Shep: Yes. Kids, just go to You
Tell the Story for the details.
Lily: Barry Huff, a Bible scholar from St.
Louis, tells us about
the lessons we can learn from Joshua.
Shep: Don't forget to memorize your Bible
verse!
