Ruth: A Faithful Daughter-in-Law
Ruth
Naomi grew up in Israel, but after she became
married, she and her husband moved to Moab. They had two sons.
One son married a woman named Orpah, and the other son married
a woman named Ruth.
Later, Naomi's husband died, and her sons died,
too. When Naomi told her two daughters-in-law that she was
going back to Israel, Ruth said, "I will go with you!"
Naomi and Ruth arrived in Israel at harvest
time. Because they had no food, Ruth said she would go gather
grain that the workers had left in one of the fields.
Boaz, the owner of the field, noticed Ruth working
hard. He made sure Ruth got plenty of grain. When Ruth brought
the grain home, Naomi was surprised. Naomi said, "Boaz
took good care of you!"
Boaz continued to show kindness to Ruth. Later
they got married and had a little boy. The boy's name was
Obed; this boy was to become the grandfather of David, who
would be a great king in Israel.
Naomi was glad she had come back to Israel.
Now she had a wonderful grandson, and Ruth had found a good
husband and home!
See if you can find your way through the grain
baskets. |
