Sarah Facts for 9-13 Year Olds

Sarah’s story is found in Genesis.
Her name means “princess.”
She marries Abraham before they go to Canaan.
A famine sends them to Egypt.
She is so beautiful that Pharaoh wants to be with her.
He takes her to his palace and gives Abraham a lot of presents for her.
Things start going badly so Pharaoh sends Sarah back to Abraham.
Ten years pass, and Sarah still isn’t pregnant.
She gives her slave-girl (Hagar) to Abraham hoping to have a baby through her.
Hagar gets pregnant, but then the women start fighting.
When Hagar runs away, an angel of the LORD tells her to return.
When (Ishmael) is born, Sarah isn’t around.
Thirteen years later, God tells Abraham that Sarah will have her own son.
Both Abraham and Sarah think that is pretty impossible because they are so old.
Sarah is 90 when Isaac is born.
She doesn’t want Isaac and Ishmael growing up together.
So she tells Abraham to send Ishmael and Hagar back to Egypt.
Sarah is 127 years old when she dies.
She dies in the land of Canaan.
Abraham buys a cave from the Hittites so that he can bury her out of sight.
The land is legally transferred, and for the first time, Abraham actually owns a piece of the Promised Land.
It will belong to his descendants forever.
