Fishers of Men
Mark 1:16-20
Jesus came to earth to help people know how they could become saved from their sins and become friends with God. He knew someday he would return to heaven and that he needed to pick some special helpers (or disciples) to carry on his work.
One night, Jesus prayed to the Father about who he should pick. Afterward, Jesus went out and picked the men specially chosen by God. He went to the Sea of Galilee and saw Peter and Andrew. He said, "Come follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
What did Jesus mean when he said that? He planned to teach the disciples how to "catch" people and show them the way to heaven.
