Listening to God makes a difficult career decision easier.
Categories: Guidance The Bible is my hotline to God. No matter what I'm facing, I know I can pray and open the Bible and get God's response. Yes, there are times when the words seem rather obscure, but I keep praying and searching for the answer.
I had been offered two jobs. One was teaching in a college prep boarding school and the other position was working with inmates in a limited security prison. The prison position salary was three times the amount of the boarding school. I prayed and listened for God's direction. I heard the question, "Which group needs healing?" I didn't even bother to open my Bible. There was only one clear answer to me. The prisoners needed healing. As I was walking out the door, the message came to return and open my Bible for guidance. I was reluctant because I was sure I had the right answer. But I have learned through the years to be obedient. I returned and opened my Bible to
Ezek 47:11 But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed;
I realized that the place I could do the most healing work was not in the prison, but with the students in the boarding school. I am eternally grateful for the inspiration and guidance I get from opening the Scriptures.
